Last weekend was a 3 day weekend..I love 3 day weekends..Saturday was very laid back..Sunday we played at Moriah in the morning and Rivers in the evening..so we were really looking forward to Monday. One of the places I have never been to since moving to Shelton was out the Skok Valley Rd. and on up to see the Steel Bridge. This is an old picture when the bridge was for the railroad. Now you can drive across it, park just after and go back and look down..way down..It was beautiful...the pictures of that day are on Reg's computer. I was kind of disappointed with the bridge itself because we couldn't figure out how to see it like in this older picture..I suppose maybe Reg could fly near???? Probably not. We had also wondered if we could get to Hoodsport from up where we were, so we kept driving. We came to a closed off road that said N. Cushman Ridge Rd..so, we don't know where it would have come out. We turned around and headed back in the direction we came from and decided to explore some more roads...these are all forest service roads..well, we headed up one and came upon a fork. As Yogi Bear says, when you come upon a fork in the road, take it..so we did..and up we went and the road kept getting worse and worse..Reg kept going saying it's got to go somewhere..we finally gave up as we weren't going anywhere..going down was a bit scary, but we got to use our 4-wheel drive!!! We got down and it started to rain and we then headed to the Teague's for a picnic..it rained a bit there, but it gradually cleared and the sun came out once again..we had a great day..
Saturday the 8th, Reg and I went to visit my Mom..when I saw her last, I got the courage to take her for a real walk (well, push her wheel chair) and we went away from her nursing home. We went as far as the QFC grocery store and I offered to buy her something, but she didn't want anything..This Saturday we got even more adventureous and took Mom for a drive. With help from one of the aides, we got her into my SUV and off we went. We wanted to show her the new Narrows Bridge..it's quite the bridge. Then we came back toward Gig Harbor and down to the waterfront. Reg knew some back roads and off we went. We were out for about an hour and I think Mom really enjoyed it. She seemed much more talkative, so that was encouraging.
Right now it's Sunday evening, Sept. 9th and Reg and I are at the Shiloh Inn at Ocean Shores. Reg has a convention to attend the next two days and I have NOTHING TO DO!!! I brought projects if I so choose..I brought scrapbook stuff to get Tillie's book done..well, at least started..getting started is the hardest part of any project for me....it's the procastination thing!!!
